Summary
As parents and families experience stress and adversity, the role of the pediatric primary care provider is evolving to better address family needs. Innovative models of care in the clinic setting allow providers to better educate and support families to prevent trauma and mitigate the effects of toxic stress. Improved education, screening, treatment, and referral models allow enhanced efforts to focus on building safe, secure, nurturing relationships.
